Learn the unforced rhythms of grace
" Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly. " - Matthew 11:28-30 The MSG
Dear Pastor,
For over 27 years, the Southeastern California Conference has invested in our pastors' spiritual and personal development through The Journey process. We believe the priorities of being the people of God before we do the work of God, spending unhurried time in the presence of God, then ministering from the overflow, and living integrated spiritual lives in our families and church communities all lead to the very best God-led, fruit-bearing ministry.
About 150 pastors have participated in this process, including an initial commitment to 6 retreats over two years at our beautiful Pine Springs Ranch. In the midst of God’s creation, we pray, abide in God’s word, and build community together. We spend time alone with God and each other in a caring, accountable, unhurried environment.
Between retreats, we seek to live out the principles and rhythms of God’s grace we have learned in our families and church communities. We continue to coach and encourage each other and share what God is doing in our midst.
We welcome all SECC pastors to participate and find refreshment and new depth in their journey with Jesus and in their ministry to the community of faith.
Will Penick, Ministerial Director of the Southeastern California Conference, oversees the Journey on the Conference level, and Jon Ciccarelli, The Journey Directing Pastor, directs the Journey process. They work with a team of other participating pastors to facilitate the retreats. Either they or I are happy to discuss any questions you may have with you.
As we follow Jesus together,
Jonathan Park, SECC President
SECC covers expenses for the retreat to express their commitment to supporting you in ministry.
